Dr. Celestine Achi, widely known as a Nigerian AI governance strategist has recently introduced a structured framework aimed at addressing what he describes as a critical governance gap in the communications profession.
The Engineering of Trust, a framework launched to provides a governance structure to ensure AI systems used in communications are measurable, transparent and reliable.
He says that while AI use has grown fast in institutions, the rules to govern AI in communications have not kept up, this creates risks for organizations including damage to their reputation and problems with regulators.
Also the strategist states that many institutions uses AI for messaging, talking to stakeholders and managing their reputation without checks and balances in place, he believes that without oversight the risk of spreading false information breaking rules and losing public trust increases.

That it gives a safety net for AI messaging, It checks if AI messages are okay to share with the public. It lists failures and how to fix them, it has a scorecard to measure trust in AI systems, and provides a 7-day plan to help institutions use AI in a governed way.
Dr. Achi has also created two tools to help with the framework. The AI-Powered PR Playbook: Engineering Trust in the Age of AI is a guide for professionals. It shows how to govern AI systems in communications.
The Engineering of Trust Assessment is a tool to help institutions, it checks if they are ready to use AI, it finds points in governance, it looks for vulnerabilities, in their structure.
“The next evolution of public relations will not be automation. It will be accountable for automation,” he said.
The Nigerian AI governance strategist has proposed dialogue with professional bodies and institutional stakeholders to explore the development of structured AI governance standards within the communications sector.
