5 arrested Over Alleged Murder in Bayelsa State

The Police in Bayelsa have arrested five suspects over an alleged murder of thirty eight year old native of Otuoke in Ogbia Local Government Area.

A statement by the Spokesman for the Bayelsa Police Command, Mr. Musa Mohammed , preliminary investigations reveal the deceased Samuel Ofiri was allegedly accused of raping a lady and was taken to an Apartment in Kakatar Road, Otuoke Community where he was tortured by the suspects, which led to his death.

It says the incident happened on February 22, 2026, at about half past three in the afternoon following a distress call, operatives of Kolo Divisional Headquarters mobilized to Kakatar Road, in Otuoke and found a lifeless male body.

It further explains that the corpse was recovered and deposited at Federal Medical Center Otuoke, Bayelsa State. According to the statement, a sting operation by Police operative led to the arrest of five suspects at Kakatar Road, Otuoke Community in connection with the death of the victim.

It gives the names of the suspects as twenty one year old Stanley Inemugha, twenty one year old Ipagaro Memidin, twenty five year old Kingsley Taribo , twenty two year old Boye Easter all from Otakeme community and forty year old Preye Timbiri from Otuoke Community, Ogbia L.G.A, Bayelsa State.

It says the suspects are currently undergoing investigations at the State Criminal Investigation Division, SCID and will be charge to court at the conclusion of investigation.

The Commissioner of Police warns members of the public against jungle justice and other forms of mob actions across the state, advising residents to report suspicious activities at the nearest Police Station or call 07034578208/ 09167322691.
