Preview: Rivers United V Barau

Rivers United will return to action on Wednesday, with the aim to regain their lost points as they prepare to host Barau FC in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 25 fixture.

‎Unarguably, Finidi George’s men struggled to get a point in the 1-1 draw away to Enyimba FC last weekend. This result showed that the title race is very close even though a lot of people thought it would be a test in Aba.

‎The Port Harcourt based side will play again at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, February 25 2026 when Barau FC comes to visit. The game will start at 4:00 pm WAT.

‎Rivers United Technical Manager Finidi George said that his team will face another challenge. He wants a better result than the draw against Enyimba.

‎Finidi George said “Every game is hard. This one will be different from the Enyimba match. We think it will be a game because of where Barau FC is now but we want to win and keep trying to get the title.”

‎The game on Wednesday happens to be one of Rivers United’s outstanding fixtures. If they win against barau FC, it can really boost their chances of getting the title as the season enters an important phase.

‎Rivers United is currently fourth on the table with 43 points from 23 matches, aided by games in hand due to continental commitments. Barau FC is coming to the game in spirits after not losing for seven matches.

‎They played a 0-0 draw with Warri Wolves weekend and are now 13th on the standings with 34 points. They are slowly moving away from the danger of being relegated.
