Obio/Akpor LGA Issues 7-Day Quit Notice to Illegal Traders, Motorists

The Obio-Akpor Local Government Area has issued a seven-day notice to traders, hawkers, roadside vendors, illegal motor park operators and motorists engaging in unauthorized parking in parts of the council.

In a press release dated February 23, 2026, and signed by the Council Chairman, Dr. Gift Worlu, directed all affected persons operating around Rumuola Flyover, Rumuadolu, Rumuola-Rumuokwuta Road, Rumuola-Aba Road down to the Open University axis and adjoining areas to vacate the locations within seven days of the publication.

The directive also applies to shop owners permitting roadside displays and individuals occupying public walkways, verges and road setbacks.

According to the council, those affected are required to remove kiosks, sheds, tables, containers and goods displayed on roads and walkways, cease all forms of street trading and illegal parking, and vacate all public right-of-way areas within the stipulated period.

The council said the move is aimed at improving traffic flow, reducing congestion, enhancing public safety, preventing accidents, restoring environmental sanitation and maintaining law and order within the local government area.

It warned that failure to comply within the seven-day window would attract enforcement actions by the council and relevant authorities.

The statement assured that residents and businesses operating within approved premises have nothing to fear.
