Cash transactions for all services at airports have been banned in Nigeria. This declaration was made today, the 19th of February, by Mr. Henry Agbebire, director of public relations and consumer protection at FAAN.
The reaffirmation made by the body, FAAN, is needed mainly because other aviation unions have a visit to the body to seekan explanation on the ceasing of cash transactions on the 18th of February, FAAN explained.
The unions that visited FAAN include the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, the National Union of Air Transport Employees, and the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals.
The director of FAAN stated that the visit opened up conservative, indicating FAAN’s dedication to stakeholder discourse.

Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director of FAAN, described the resolution to fully carry out cashless operations in all airports nationwide.
She explained that the implementation of cashless operations is a directive from the Federal Government, and it is in accordance with best practices in aviation all over the world.
She also stated that the new transition will aid accountability and transparency. She mentioned a Treasury Circular issued by the office of the Accountant-General of the Federation that ordered the termination of cash transactions in all government operations.
She said as part of public finance improvements, MDA (Federal Executive Council for Ministries, Departments and Agencies approved the order to terminate physical cash collection.
The new cashless transactions policy takes effect from the 28th of February in all airports nationwide as efforts to increase transparency and efficiency by the federal government.
