Rivers State NYSC Coordinator Urges Corps Members to Be Neutral

Ahead of the February 21, 2026, bye-elections in Ahoada-East 11 and Khana 11 constituencies, the Rivers State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Mr Moses Oleghe, has charged corps members to be neutral.

The corps members participating in the election were also advised to see the task as a national assignment that must be carried out selflessly.

Oleghe gave this charge while addressing corps members undertaking a 3-day training in preparation for the election as revealed In a statement on Monday, February 16, 2025, by the state NYSC spokesperson, Mr Christian Okereke.

His words, “all is getting set for the Rivers State House of Assembly bye election for Ahoada II and Khana II constituencies.

“I want to advise you who will participate in the election to uphold highest sense of integrity, honesty, moral uprightness and self-dignity in your conduct before, during, and after the election.

“You must be absolutely neutral and see your participation in the election as a national assignment that must be conducted with patriotism, selflessness, and sacrifice for a greater Nigeria.”

The NYSC boss further charged them to be security conscious, stressing that their life and safety can not be equated with the outcome of the election.

He further urged them to “carry your own food and water, have your phones fully charged with airtime, keep the phone numbers of security agencies handy, and avoid any form of confrontation with thugs in case of a threat.”
