No fewer than 225 public secondary schools and technical colleges in Bayelsa State have received learning materials from the Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) to boost teaching and learning.
The support covered schools across the eight local government areas of the state. In addition, five government science and technical colleges were provided with science equipment and drawing studios to strengthen practical learning.
The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah, who presided over the event, restated the state government’s commitment to improving education standards. He praised the EDTF for its continued support and assured that the administration would keep working to reposition the sector.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Dr. Daniel Charles, commended the Trust Fund for its achievements. He, however, encouraged the board to extend more support to rural schools.

Chairman of the EDTF Board, High Chief Fidelis Agbiki, expressed the board’s determination to further enhance the state’s education system. He urged school principals to ensure the proper use and maintenance of the materials provided.
The Executive Secretary of the EDTF, Professor Ebimiowei Etebu, explained that the intervention was designed to fill key gaps in schools and improve students’ academic performance.
The event ended with the official presentation of the materials, science equipment, and drawing studios to school principals at the State Education House.
