Shock and sorrow have gripped Omoku following the discovery of the mutilated body of the President of the Omoku Youth Federation, Comrade Ifeanyi Azuazu, in the remote Elieta Forest, within Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Azuazu, who was taken away by armed men last Thursday, February 5, 2026, was found dead during a security sweep carried out by operatives of the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Security and Planning Advisory Committee (OSPAC). His death has deepened fear and grief across the community.
Confirming the development, OSPAC spokesperson in the area, Goodnews Nkem, said the youth leader’s remains were recovered while security personnel were combing the forest as part of ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities.
The late youth president was abducted at about 6 p.m. at a relaxation spot along Ogolo Street, off Palace Road, Omoku. Witnesses said the assailants—about seven in number and operating in two vehicles—forcefully seized Azuazu. In the process, his aide, identified as Chigozie Oluwu, was shot and killed after attempting to resist the abduction.
