We No Dey Go Again – Rivers United Rivals

In less than 24 hours after announcing their exit over what they described as unfair disciplinary measures, Kun Khalifat FC have reversed their decision to withdraw from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), returning to the competition.

‎The East Nigeria outlet, Kun Khalifat has officially confirmed their reinstatement on Thursday after an indoor meeting with the League Management Board, which they said resulted in a positive resolution of all outstanding issues.

‎Uzoho Obinna’s side, who are currently facing a relegation battle had earlier pulled out of the Nigerian Premier Football League in protest after being sanctioned for failing to honour a fixture against El-Kanemi Warriors, a decision that sparked widespread debate among football stakeholders and supporters across the country.

‎This statement was confirmed in the memo signed by Michael Amaefula, the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Kun Khalifat has expressed satisfaction with the outcome of discussions and confirmed that the club had been reinstated with immediate effect.

‎The club’s Chief Executive Officer said that the club management and the NPFL management board have agreed to put the dispute behind them and work together in the interest of Nigerian football. Michael Amaefula also commended the officials of the NPFL for engaging constructively with the club’s concerns and pledged improved cooperation going forward.

‎However, it is claimed that with the speculated matter being resolved, the club will resume their league campaign and are scheduled to face Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

‎Notwithstanding, the club’s management has urged supporters to turn out in large numbers for the fixture, describing it as a crucial match in their season. Kun Khalifat also thanked fans for their patience during the brief period of uncertainty and promised an exciting continuation of their NPFL campaign.
