Nigeria Customs Service, Area 1 (Port Harcourt), on Friday announced a robust 2025 performance, collecting N288.8 billion and surpassing its N216.9 billion target by N71.8 billion.
Area 1 Controller, Salamatu Atuluku, revealed the figures at a media briefing on the Command’s 2025 operations. She attributed the results to focused leadership, strategic policy implementation and close collaboration with stakeholders and sister agencies.
“We recorded outstanding revenue performance in 2025,” Atuluku said. “Improved compliance monitoring, enhanced cargo examination and automation-driven controls underpinned this growth.”
Exports and foreign exchange contribution
The Command processed 1,111,007 metric tons of exports in 2025, covering both oil and non-oil commodities. The Free on Board (FOB) value of those exports stood at $463.6 million.
Atuluku noted that exporters paid N838.02 million under the Nigeria Export Supervision Scheme (NESS) during the year. She said the figures reflect increased exporter participation and improved documentation compliance.
Enforcement, capacity building and community engagement
The Command also reported successful interdictions of unapproved products. Seized items were handed over to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for further action.
Atuluku highlighted periodic training for officers in customs automation, risk management and enforcement procedures. She said the training improved operational readiness and trade facilitation.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, the Command distributed exercise books and educational materials to Community Primary School 1 & 2, Oromenike D/Line, Port Harcourt.
