YEAC Reaffirms Commitment to Youth

The Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC-Nigeria) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting inclusive, equitable and quality education for youths in Rivers State, the Niger Delta and across Nigeria.

In a statement issued by the Executive Director of YEAC-Nigeria, Dr. Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface, on Saturday to commemorate the annual event the International Day of Education, said education remains a critical tool for empowering young people and driving sustainable development across the country.

The organisation noted that the 2026 theme, “The Power of Youth in Co-Creating Education,” aligns strongly with its mission of placing young people at the centre of educational development. According to YEAC-Nigeria, youths should not be seen merely as beneficiaries of education but as active contributors to its design, delivery and impact.

YEAC-Nigeria stressed that education and awareness are vital in addressing major societal challenges, including climate change, environmental degradation, organised crime, cultism, drug abuse, human trafficking and social inequality. The group said it continues to promote education and awareness initiatives aimed at capacity building, community empowerment and sustainable development.

The organisation used the occasion to call on governments, policymakers and other stakeholders to prioritise education and increase investment in youth development, noting that such commitments are essential for building a just, equitable and sustainable society.
