Governor Fubara Joins APC Strategy Committee Inaugural Meeting

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Monday participated in the inaugural session of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation.

The committee which was established to tackle internal disputes, foster unity and strengthen the party ahead of future elections, is chaired by Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni.

Other governors serving on the panel include AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Uba Sani (Kaduna), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti) and Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta).

Additional members are Senator Adamu Aliero, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs Alhaji Ibrahim Masari. Governor Fubara’s attendance of the meeting which focused on addressing ongoing internal challenges and emerging issues within the party marked a further step in his integration into the ruling party following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in December 2025.

At the committee’s inauguration last December in Lagos by President Bola Tinubu, Chairman Buni emphasised the need for strategic engagements and broad consultations to deliver inclusive, lasting solutions.

He stressed that the panel would prioritise giving both longstanding and new members particularly those with grievances a genuine sense of belonging.

The committee Chairman, Governor Buni also called for proactive steps to counter threats to party cohesion, urging members to place collective interests above personal ambitions or sentiments.

Rivers State governor’s participation underscores his growing footprint in the ruling APC and his recognition by the party’s national leadership as leader in Rivers State.

The governor’s defection was aimed at aligning Rivers with the federal government for enhanced development and stability.
