Nigeria’s FIFA Ranking Released

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are soaring again, and the feeling is one of a naija spirit.

In the latest FIFA World Rankings released on Monday, the Super Eagles have surged to 26th in the world, completing an impressive 12-place jump that shows their resurgence on the continental stage. Only weeks ago, Nigeria were ranked 38th, but a brave and inspiring campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where they finished third, has dramatically changed the narrative.

That memorable run now places Nigeria as the third-best team in Africa, standing firmly behind AFCON finalists Senegal, ranked 12th globally, and Morocco, who occupy an outstanding eighth position in the world.

There is added satisfaction in seeing Algeria and Egypt, both eliminated by Nigeria during the tournament, drop behind in fourth and fifth positions on the African ranking.

The journey was defined by determination and sheer strength. The Super Eagles won six of their seven matches, with their only setback coming in a painful penalty shootout defeat to host nation Morocco in the semi-finals. They responded with character and confidence, sealing third place with a commanding 4–2 victory over Egypt in Saturday’s playoff.

At the top of global football, Spain, Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Croatia make up FIFA’s current top 10. Nigeria’s rise, however, sends a clear message: the Super Eagles are back, growing stronger, and aiming even higher.
