Odili Strongly Denounces Fake Viral Attack on Wike, Threatens Legal Action Against Perpetrators

Former Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili has categorically rejected and disowned a widely circulated social media document falsely attributed to him, which purportedly contains a sharp rebuttal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

In a firm and unequivocal disclaimer released through his media adviser, Dr. Emma Okah, the elder statesman declared that he neither wrote, approved, nor authorized the controversial piece titled “Peter Odili replies Wike in the language he understands.”

The statement revealed that the material was actually penned by one Sotonye Ijuye-Dagogo (popularly known as Ijuye Telescopic). Notably, the author himself publicly confessed in a 2025 Facebook post that the so-called response was entirely fictional — a product of his imagination, described humorously as something he “woke up from a harmattan-induced sleep” to realize was merely a dream sequence.

Despite this clear admission, the fabricated content has continued to spread like wildfire across various online platforms and media outlets, misleading the public into believing it reflects Dr. Odili’s genuine position.

The former governor emphasized that he has deliberately refrained from making any public remarks on the ongoing political developments in Rivers State or on any individual involved. He reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as well as that of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, while maintaining a dignified silence on state-level controversies.

Describing the persistent sharing of the fake statement as “deliberate misrepresentation and malicious falsehood,” Dr. Odili issued a stern final warning to all those responsible for its circulation: immediately cease distribution, retract the publication, and desist from further attribution, or face legal consequences without additional notice.

This incident shines a spotlight on the growing menace of disinformation in Rivers State’s volatile political landscape, where social media has increasingly turned into a fierce arena for fabricated narratives, anonymous attacks, and proxy battles among opposing factions.
