Super Eagles Discovers Next Opponent As Player Leaves Camp


‎The Super Eagles of Nigeria have learned who they will face in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final after they breezed past Mozambique in the round of 16.

‎The 2013 champion continued their perfect start to the tournament as they faced the Mambas in Fez, scoring four unanswered as they made it four wins in as many outings at AFCON 2025.

‎Atalanta sensational, Lookman scored the opener after 20 minutes and Nigeria scarcely looked back as they put Mozambique, debutants in the knockout stages of an AFCON tournament, to the sword.

‎The recent victory secured by the Super Eagles of Nigeria leaves them with just two wins away from the final, and they now know who they can face in the next stage of the competition.

‎It has now been confirmed that Nigeria will come up against Algeria in the quarter-final, with Algeria defeating the Democratic Republic of Congo on with 1:0 play that extended to the extra time on Tuesday.

‎With the likes of Riyad Karim Mahrez, Algeria would pose Nigeria their greatest technical test of the tournament so far. They completed the group stage without dropping points, with his star-studded squad only conceding once in the process.

‎The north African side also boasts Man City full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, AC Milan’s Ismael Bennacer, and goalkeeper Luca Zidane, son of Zinedine, among their ranks.


‎In other news, Akor Jerome Adams, Super Eagles striker has reportedly departed the Super Eagles’ camp in Fes to check on his mother after who was admitted in the hospital a day before Mozambique clash. The Sevilla frontman made his debut for the  Super Eagles of Nigerian in their 2-1 win against Lesotho back in October 2025, and has immediately become a first-team name in Eric Chelle’s side.
