Senator Abe Hails Tinubu’s Nomination as NUPRC Board Chairman

Former Senator Magnus Ngei Abe has expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu following his nomination as Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), describing the President as a father that rewards genuine loyalty and promotes competence.

In a statement on Tuesday 5 January, Senator Abe, who represented Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the Senate, dedicated the nomination to his longstanding support for Tinubu, recalling a radio caller who once mocked him for backing the President without expectation of reward.

“My love and support for President Tinubu was not based on expectations of reward, but on conviction that he will do things differently. Today, the numbers are beginning to show that Nigeria is on the right course,” Abe said.

He praised Tinubu as a master of the game whose leadership qualities have earned trust across the nation, insisting that Nigeria is not becoming a one-party state but has found a dependable leader in the President.

Senator Abe also extended special thanks to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, whom he called the “001 of the Tinubu political family in Rivers State.”

He credited Wike for delivering Rivers to Tinubu and the APC in the 2023 elections, describing his support as pivotal to building a renewed hope family coalition in the state.

“My friend, my brother, our Nyerishi, thank you. I and my family owe you what words cannot express,” Abe added.

The former lawmaker praised God for the nomination and called for Nigerians to support Tinubu’s reform agenda, pay taxes, and ignore naysayers, assuring that “better days are coming.”

President Tinubu nominated Abe and 20 others for NUPRC and NMDPRA boards on Monday, seeking Senate confirmation.
