The Super Eagles of Nigeria got a huge performance booster as they received financial boost ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Round of 16 encounter against Mozambique, with a promise of $10,000 (approximately ₦14 million) for every goal scored in the knockout fixture.
It is claimed that the incentive, offered by a Nigerian business mogul and partner of the national team, represents an increase from the group-stage bonus, where players earned $5,000 per goal.
Statistically, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have scored eight a total of goals across their three group matches, benefitting from the earlier reward structure. The speculated match bonus will apply to Monday’s must-win clash at the Fez Stadium in Morocco, as Nigeria seeks a place in the quarter-finals of the continental competition.
