Celebrity Boxer Anthony Joshua Involved In A Car Crash

A routine journey turned to tragedy on a major Nigerian highway this Monday morning, involving one of the sporting world’s most recognizable figures. Anthony Joshua, the former heavyweight boxing champion, was caught in a serious collision along the bustling Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The incident unfolded just after 11 a.m. near Makun in Ogun State, according to accounts from the scene. Joshua was traveling in a Lexus SUV, part of a two-vehicle convoy that included a security detail following in a separate car. Eyewitnesses describe a sudden impact as the Lexus collided with a stationary truck along the Ibadan-bound lanes, just before the Danco Filling Station.

In the chaotic moments that followed, nearby motorists and residents rushed to assist.

“Other eyewitnesses and I began the rescue and flagged down oncoming vehicles to help,” one firsthand account details. Their efforts were soon joined by officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps, who arrived at the scene minutes later.

The crash proved fatal for two individuals in the champion’s vehicle. Tragically, the front-seat passenger and the occupant seated directly beside Joshua in the rear were declared dead at the scene. The boxer himself and his driver survived the impact.

Authorities are actively investigating the precise circumstances that led the convoy vehicle to strike the parked truck. As the investigation continues, the event marks a sobering reminder of the perils of the road, even for those accustomed to the controlled chaos of the ring.
