The Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Lady Valerie Siminalayi Fubara, has urged children in the state to always exhibit good behaviour, show respect and obedience to their parents, and actively assist in household chores.
Lady Fubara gave this charge on Friday 26 December at the 2025 Children’s Christmas Party held at Government House, Port Harcourt, where hundreds of excited children from across the state converged to mark the yuletide season.
Addressing the youngsters, the Governor’s wife admonished them to conduct themselves responsibly during the holidays, emphasising moderation in the use of electronic devices while underscoring the importance of discipline and good character as core values.
She further encouraged the children to pray fervently for the peace and progress of Rivers State, and to aspire to become loving, united, and responsible citizens who would make meaningful contributions to society.
Welcoming the children to the vibrant and colourful event, Lady Fubara expressed delight in their enthusiasm and urged them to fully participate in the games and activities, while exercising care and caution during play.
She offered prayers for divine protection, sound health, and abundant grace upon the children and their families, expressing optimism that they would all reunite in joy and harmony to celebrate another Christmas in 2026.
The highlights of the party included a special dance session featuring the Wife of the Governor and the Wife of the Deputy Governor, thrilling games and dance competitions, distribution of gifts to the children, and the ceremonial cutting of the 2025 Children’s Christmas Party Cake by Lady Fubara.
The event underscored the state government’s commitment to the welfare and development of children in Rivers State.
