My-ACE China Sponsors Free Medical Outreach in Port Harcourt

The Mayor of Housing, My-ACE China, on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, staged an emotional reunion with former colleagues at Meridian Hospitals Group, Oromenike area of D-Line, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

China, who described the hospital as the first and only place he had worked in his life, said returning to Meridian was deeply symbolic, as it shaped his outlook on life and inspired his journey into entrepreneurship.

The visit was marked by excitement as he presented cash gifts and Christmas palliatives to about 10 staff members who had worked with him years earlier.

According to him, his experience at the hospital opened his eyes to the realities of life and convinced him that financial independence through entrepreneurship was necessary to enable him support humanitarian causes, particularly the provision of free healthcare to the less privileged.

Reacting, the Founder and Chief Medical Director of Meridian Hospitals Group, Dr Iyke Odo, described China as a man of courage, hard work, ambition and generosity. He noted that China had always demonstrated an uncommon spirit of giving, adding that true givers are driven by a passion to help others.

Dr Odo also called on governments at all levels to strengthen the implementation of health insurance schemes in Nigeria, stressing that effective health insurance would help save lives and reduce preventable deaths.

As part of the visit, China, in partnership with Meridian Hospitals Group and Pilgrims Health Foundation, sponsored a one-day free medical outreach. The exercise was held at Oromenike Government Girls Secondary School, D-Line, Port Harcourt, where over 100 residents benefited from free medical services, including eye examinations, free eyeglasses and eye surgeries.

Explaining his motivation, China said he worked at Meridian Hospital as a laboratory scientist about 19 years ago but resigned after repeatedly witnessing patients lose their lives because they could not afford medical bills. He said the outreach was his way of giving back and extending hope to the less privileged.

Also speaking, the Head of Nursing and spokesperson for the beneficiaries, Mrs Francesca Nzeako, commended China for his compassion and generosity, describing him as a man with a good heart.

She thanked him for remembering his former colleagues and supporting them with food items and cash gifts during the festive season.
