Fubara Calls for Peace, Religious Tolerance in Christmas Message to Rivers People

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has urged residents of the state to embrace peace, unity and tolerance and unity as key drivers of sustainable development, as Christians celebrate Christmas.

In a goodwill message issued on December 25, 2025, Governor Fubara congratulated the people of Rivers State on witnessing the Christmas season, describing it as a period of hope, renewal and thanksgiving. He said the birth of Jesus Christ represents enduring values of love, humility, sacrifice and compassion, which should continue to guide relationships among citizens.

The governor described Christmas as a profound expression of God’s boundless love and gift of peace to humanity, calling on residents to reflect on these virtues and apply them in their daily interactions. He urged people of different faiths to uphold religious tolerance and renew their commitment to peaceful coexistence, especially in the face of prevailing socio-economic challenges.

Governor Fubara emphasized that unity and harmony remain the foundation for collective progress in the state. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the Rivers First agenda, noting that peace and stability are essential for inclusive development, infrastructure growth, economic expansion and long-term prosperity.

He appealed to residents to replace conflict with dialogue and understanding, stressing that security is a shared responsibility that requires vigilance, cooperation and mutual respect among citizens.

The governor wished the people of Rivers State a peaceful and joyous Christmas celebration, praying that the season would bring happiness to homes across the state. He also expressed optimism for a smooth transition into 2026, marked by renewed purpose, progress and breakthroughs for the state and its people.
