Former CDC Chairman of Elikpokwuodu Advocates Need to Remember Widows This Festive Season

Former Community Development Committee, CDC Chairman of Elikpokwodu, Prince Sonny Okpara who made this known while giving out food stuffs to some Widows in Elikpokwodu, Obio/Akpor Rivers State explained that he was moved by love and compassion for the women.

Prince Okpara who said he has sustained the tradition for the past four years enjoined other well meaning Nigerians to toe the same path. Reacting to the development, Chairman of Okpara Ngwa Community, Mr. Austin Okpara described the gesture as encouraging.

“I felt that the Widows are suffering, because they don’t have husbands, I make sure that every year whatever thing, even if it is a token I will give to them to help them survive. I know that some Widows pass through a lot of difficult situations trying to provide for themselves and their children.

I was moved by compassion and love to initiate this gesture as a yearly activity to reach out to Widows.
I call on others in my community, Elikpokwodu , Rukpokwu to join hands with me to Carter for the Widows because they are our relatives.”

Two of the widows, Okpara Ngozi and Beleena Azubuike, Awhile appreciating the benefactor, admitted that they were overwhelmed with joy.

The beneficiaries prayed for more open doors for the donor. About fifty widows received bags of rice and some cash.
