Nigerian content creator and musician, Oderhohwo Efe, better known as Carter Efe, has climbed to the top of Africa’s Twitch streaming scene, becoming the continent’s most-followed streamer.
Efe dethroned fellow Nigerian entertainer Adesokan Emmanuel, popularly called Shank Comics, whose record had stood for about six months with roughly 233,000 followers.
The breakthrough came on the back of a highly publicised livestream featuring Afrobeats megastar Davido, an appearance that sent Efe’s numbers soaring within days.
Before the collaboration, Carter Efe had about 322,000 followers.
Following the announcement and execution of the joint stream, his follower count jumped by an estimated 160,000 in just four days, marking one of the fastest growth spurts ever recorded on the platform by an African creator.

The livestream itself also set new benchmarks. Davido, fondly known as the “Machala” crooner, reportedly shattered the record for the most-watched Twitch stream in Africa, pulling in about 83,000 live viewers.
The session also made history as Efe became the first African streamer to cross 20,000 subscribers on Twitch.
Beyond the numbers, the stream delivered star power and surprises. Davido linked Efe with high-profile personalities, including his wife and popular nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest, while also giving a shoutout to Twitch CEO Dan Clancy.
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen later joined via a call, thrilling fans with a rare blend of music, sports and comedy.
The night ended on a dramatic note when content creator Enzo stormed the set, daring Efe to an impromptu boxing bout to prove his loyalty to Davido’s 30BG fan base a moment that quickly set social media buzzing.
