Rivers Ijaw to Tinubu: Go for Second Term

The Rivers Ijaw People’s Congress (RIPCO), a socio-political organization focused on the Ijaw community, has unanimously endorsed President Bola Tinubu for his re-election, stating that a second term is essential for solidifying the “Renewed Hope Agenda.” The organization also praised Tinubu as a deserving leader, encouraging him to announce his plans for re-election.

During a media briefing in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, the group’s leader, Senator George Sekibo, presented the endorsement, co-signed by its Director General, Mr. Rowland Sekibo, and Secretary, Mr. Erastus Awortu.

Sekibo noted that this unified decision is the result of careful consideration and reflection on Tinubu’s accomplishments in areas such as human capital, economic growth, and infrastructure development, among others.

“With this conviction in mind, and on behalf of the Rivers Ijaw people, we proudly declare Tinubu as our presidential candidate for the 2027 elections,” he stated.

Highlighting the numerous successes of the Tinubu administration, Sekibo asserted that only through re-election can there be ongoing sustainability and consolidation of the established objectives.

He expressed appreciation to the president for enhancing new pathways intended to boost commerce within the state. He pointed out that the creation of the University of Environment, the completion of the Bodo-Bonny road, and the ongoing rehabilitation of the East-West Road are testaments to Tinubu’s skill.

“We also acknowledge the president’s fatherly intervention during significant political crises and his diplomatic efforts in fostering peace within our state.

“Currently, our citizens can engage in their legitimate activities due to a more politically stable environment. We must show our gratitude for this by fully supporting the president’s re-election.”

Sekibo further highlighted that individuals from the state in the current administration have secured over 30 significant political appointments, a milestone that had not been achieved by former administrations.

Appointments include: Nyesom Wike – Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Desmond Akawo – Commissioner for Revenue Mobilization, and Chukwuemeka Aaron – Commissioner, Federal Character Commission.

“Others include Emeka Woke, Director General, National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency; Chibudom Nwuche, South-South Development Commission.

“Boma Iyaye, Director, Finance and Administration (NDDC); and Mrs. Didi Watson-Jack, Head of Civil Service of the Federation, among others,” he remarked.
