Victor Osimhen Named GQ Türkiye Sportsman of the Year

Nigerian international striker Victor Osimhen has been honoured as GQ Türkiye’s Sportsman of the Year, receiving the prestigious award at the 2025 Men of the Year ceremony. The accolade recognizes his significant impact on Turkish football since his loan move to Süper Lig giants Galatasaray.

Osimhen, 26, currently on loan from Italian Serie A champions Napoli, accepted the esteemed award with characteristic enthusiasm. In a heartfelt acceptance speech, he expressed profound gratitude to his “Galatasaray family” for their support and dedication, concluding with the fervent declaration, “Yasasin Galatasaray!” – Turkish for “Long live Galatasaray!” He further dedicated the award to his supporters “everywhere,” acknowledging their role in his journey.

The award comes amidst a stellar season for Osimhen, who has been instrumental in Galatasaray’s pursuit of the Süper Lig title. Despite a challenging summer transfer window marked by intense speculation, the prolific forward has seamlessly integrated into the team, netting an impressive 11 goals in just 15 league appearances. His consistent goal-scoring prowess has cemented his status as a fan favourite and a crucial asset for the club’s offensive strategy.
