The Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, in collaboration with the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), has launched a free medical outreach for residents of Adanta, Isiokpo in Ikwerre LGA.
Hosted at the Model Primary Health Care Centre on Monday, the programme provided free surgeries, medical consultations, and included an inspection of the Isiokpo Zonal Hospital.

Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Oreh, said the outreach is part of wider efforts to expand access to quality healthcare across the state, adding that she will update the governor on the condition of the zonal hospital.
The Chief Medical Director of RSUTH, Prof. Chizindu Alikor, praised the commissioner’s leadership and urged residents to fully utilize the services.
Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP, Dr. Vetty Agala, announced that all beneficiaries will be automatically enrolled in the Basic Health Care Provision Fund for one year, ensuring continued access to primary care.
Grateful residents described the outreach as timely and impactful.
