The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the commissioning of the Bonny–Port Harcourt Road, describing the project as a major boost to energy logistics and economic development in the Niger Delta.
Speaking to journalists, the National President of PETROAN, Dr. Billy Gillis-Harry, described the road as a long-awaited national infrastructure milestone, noting that several administrations attempted but were unable to complete the project.
According to him, the newly completed roadway would open new economic corridors, improve access to Bonny Island, one of Nigeria’s major oil and gas hubs and enhance movement of petroleum products in the region.
Gillis-Harry said the improved logistics is expected to significantly reduce transportation costs and ultimately lower the price of gas for domestic and industrial users.

“With the road now open to full use, PETROAN members and operators in the downstream sector can function with improved efficiency and reduced haulage challenges,” he stated.
He added that reduced delays and transportation risks would strengthen the national energy supply chain and improve distribution of petroleum products across the South–South.
The PETROAN President also commended the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, for providing technical leadership and supervision that ensured timely completion of the road.
He noted that the road will allow petroleum products delivered by truck to reach Bonny Island more seamlessly, supporting domestic supply, industry operations and power-generation facilities in the region.
PETROAN pledged continued collaboration with the Federal Government to maximise the economic and industrial benefits of the project.
