Rivers Targets Tourism Gold as Agencies Forge New Alliance

In a landmark display of public-private sector synergy, the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) Secretariat today hosted the Director General of the Rivers State Investment Promotion Agency (RSIPA), Dr. Chamberlain Peterside, and the Director General/CEO of the Rivers State Tourism Development Agency (RSTDA), Mr. Yibo Koko.


The high-level courtesy visit, the first of its kind in the history of the Chamber, focused on aligning major December events to showcase Rivers State as a safe, vibrant destination for investment, leisure, and recreation.


Key initiatives discussed include the forthcoming Port Harcourt International Trade Fair, the flagship “Heet December” celebration, the spectacular lighting up of the state for the yuletide season, and other strategic activations designed to drive economic activity and tourism inflows.

Speaking during the engagement, the leadership of PHCCIMA, under President Dr. Chinyere Nwoga, reaffirmed its commitment to harnessing the state’s abundant opportunities and projecting Rivers State as Nigeria’s premier business and pleasure destination.


Notable attendees included promoters of the Heet December event, the Convener of the Bole Festival (both esteemed PHCCIMA members), 1st Deputy President Chief Isaac Wonwu, Chairman of the Creative Arts and Culture Trade Group Engr. Onari Batubo, and Chairman of Inter-Governmental Relations, Mr. Tariboba Memberr.


The unprecedented partnership underscores a new era of collaboration aimed at accelerating economic growth, enhancing security perception, and cementing Rivers State’s reputation as the heartbeat of investment and entertainment in the South-South region.
