Navy Offers Free Medical Outreach In Akuku-Toru

Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder, Rear Admiral Aniaku, has emphasized that health remains the foundation of personal and community development.

Speaking at a free medical outreach in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, he described the Navy as a key stakeholder in nation-building.

He noted that initiatives like the outreach not only provide essential healthcare but also strengthen the bond between the Navy and its host communities.

The services rendered included medical consultations, laboratory tests, drug distribution, and the provision of insecticide-treated mosquito nets efforts he said would ease the healthcare burden on residents. He also wished the people continued good health and prosperity.

In her remarks, the Chairman of Akuku-Toru LGA, Hon. Aboiya-a Bob-Fubara, represented by Mrs. Otelemate Amadi-Ebenezer, expressed deep gratitude to the Navy, describing the intervention as timely and impactful.

Beneficiaries also shared their relief. Mr. Simeon Sokari, a retired civil servant, said he had struggled to afford healthcare since retirement:
“Today, the Navy conducted tests and gave us drugs and mosquito nets all free. I am truly excited and relieved.”

Another resident, Hon. Sylverline Ekine, praised the scale of the outreach, noting that many people in the area cannot afford essential medication.

The exercise underscored the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to supporting underserved communities and bringing tangible relief to residents of Akuku-Toru LGA.
