In a renewed push to secure sustainable jobs and empowerment opportunities for youths in the state, Rivers State Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment on Tuesday 2nd December 2025 inaugurated a 15-member Employment Monitoring and Compliance Committee.
Speaking at the brief ceremony in Port Harcourt, the Commissioner for Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment, Dr. Chisom Gbali, said members of the committee were meticulously selected based on competence, professionalism, and proven capacity to deliver on Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s mandate of aggressive job creation.
“The Governor has directed the ministry to vigorously pursue employment openings in telecommunications, oil and gas, and other critical sectors to place qualified Rivers youths in meaningful employment,” Dr. Gbali said.
He stressed that the assignment demands a professional and people-centered approach, particularly when interfacing with corporate organizations on sensitive matters.
The committee’s core mandate includes identifying companies with existing vacancies, facilitating direct engagement between the ministry and such firms, and linking suitably qualified indigenes to the opportunities.

He pledged that the committee would work assiduously to deliver measurable results within the stipulated timeline, in line with the administration’s youth empowerment agenda.
The inauguration comes on the heels of Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s approval of the revalidation of one thousand teachers previously employed in a bid for them to commence teaching in public schools across the state.
