Rivers State Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Quality Education

The Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba, has restated the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s unwavering dedication to enhancing access to quality education across all levels in the state.

Dr. Anabraba gave the assurance on Wednesday while hosting the Deputy Registrar and Zonal Coordinator of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Mr. Ayanfemi Adeniran-Amusan, on a courtesy visit to his office in Port Harcourt.

He commended WAEC for its role in maintaining educational standards and noted that Rivers State students consistently rank among the top performers nationally.

“His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, places the highest priority on education,” Dr. Anabraba said. “The Governor is personally sponsoring free registration for all public school students sitting for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).”

In a major boost to digital learning, Governor Fubara has approved the establishment of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the state’s three senatorial districts and all 23 local government areas.

The initiative aims to equip students with essential digital literacy skills and provide modern examination facilities.

In response, Mr. Adeniran-Amusan expressed WAEC’s commitment to deeper collaboration with the Rivers State Government to advance education development.
