Bandits Cannot Attack Rivers State- Nasboi

Nigerian skit maker and actor Nasboi has sparked wide conversation online after openly expressing his confidence in Rivers State’s resilience despite the country’s growing security challenges. His comment, shared on X, quickly gained traction as Nigerians debated the safety concerns currently affecting many regions.

In the post, Nasboi wrote, “If I no trust anywhere, I trust River State. If bandit dey crase make dem go there.” The statement arrived during a tense period marked by multiple reports of bandit attacks across northern and central states, leaving citizens anxious and increasingly vocal about national insecurity.

While the comment carried his usual humorous tone, many interpreted it as a nod to Rivers State’s long-standing reputation for community strength, vigilance, and a unique brand of street awareness that locals often describe as “self-regulating.” Social media reactions were split between laughter, pride, and curiosity about his choice of comparison.

Residents from Port Harcourt and other parts of the state responded with mixed emotions. Some echoed Nasboi’s view, noting that Rivers people are known for standing their ground and protecting their environment. Others argued that no state in the country is completely insulated from insecurity and cautioned against creating an impression of regional invincibility.

Security analysts also weighed in, pointing out that while Rivers State has seen fewer bandit-style attacks than some regions, it still grapples with its own issues ranging from cult-related clashes to isolated kidnapping incidents. They stressed that Nasboi’s statement reflects perception more than data but acknowledged that Rivers residents often exhibit a strong sense of community defense.

Beyond the back-and-forth, Nasboi’s remark has clearly touched a nerve. It has pushed many Nigerians to take a closer look at how different states respond to insecurity and why some places feel safer than others.
