Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Lady Valerie Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed the importance of regular exercise, describing it as a crucial step toward achieving a healthy and fulfilling life.
She gave the charge on Thursday during a fitness session with the group “Rivers Women Unite for SIM” at the Ecumenical Centre on Abonnema Wharf Road in Port Harcourt.
Lady Fubara noted that wellness activities remain essential for people of all ages, adding that even simple routines such as brisk walking can greatly improve overall wellbeing. She stressed that healthy living does not require complex fitness techniques, but a willingness to stay active consistently.
“Exercise is an essential way to prioritise our health, and I want to remind everyone that it is for all ages,” she said. “Even at 70 or approaching 80, you can still flourish. And if you don’t know any complicated routine, just walk your body counts it as exercise.”
She wife explained that the fitness programme was designed to accommodate women of different ages and abilities, promoting unity, encouragement, and collective growth rather than competition.
“Some routines may seem difficult, but we’ve structured the sessions to meet various needs. As a family, we’re here to support one another. Our aim is simple: to live healthier lives. A healthy heart is the foundation of a healthy life,” she added.
Lady Fubara also urged the women to stay committed to improving their wellbeing while trusting God for strength, guidance, and provision, noting that faith plays an important role in overcoming life’s challenges and achieving personal goals.
