Which Way Nigeria- AY Cries Out

Renowned Nigerian comedian, actor and filmmaker, Ayodeji Richard Makun, popularly known as AY, has raised serious concerns over the worsening insecurity in the country, describing the current state of Nigeria as “a crime scene.”

‎The award-winning entertainer, who is also the host of the popular AY Live shows, made the remarks on social media while reacting to the recent surge in kidnappings, killings and bandit attacks nationwide.

‎Comedian AY questioned what has led the nation to such alarming levels of violence, why authorities appear silent, and how citizens are expected to cope with the fear and uncertainty that now dominate daily life.

‎His comments came shortly after multiple incidents involving schoolchildren being abducted from classrooms, bandits invading churches to kill and kidnap worshippers, and the reported murder of senior military personnel, including a Brigadier General.

The comedian expressed shock that these events continue to unfold across various states with little visible intervention from those in leadership. He asked who will ultimately rescue the country if elected officials fail to act, and when meaningful steps will be taken to curb the escalating crisis.

‎AY also raised concerns about where the nation is headed if violent crimes are becoming normalized, stressing that Nigerians deserve safety, accountability and decisive action rather than silence.

‎He concluded by urging the government to prioritize security, protect lives and restore public confidence before the situation deteriorates further.
