‎Unarguably, the absence of Victor Osimhen upfront and his impact was strongly felt as the Leopards took control of the game, eventually defeating Nigeria 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

‎The victory obtained by the Democratic Republic of Congo’s against Nigeria got them a sport in the intercontinental playoffs for a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while Nigeria failed to qualify for the second consecutive global tournament, a first since the nation’s World Cup debut in 1994.

‎That notwithstanding, a Turkish based outlet (Sports Digitale) reported earlier on Tuesday that Victor Osimhen is expected to arrive in Istanbul on Sunday, where Galatasaray’s medical team will conduct a thorough assessment.

‎The 26-year old sensational forward who is pinpointed as one the the word best striker is scheduled to undergo an MRI scan immediately upon arrival to determine the severity of his hamstring injury and outline a recovery plan.

‎It’s indeed a sad moment for him, having dealt with thigh and hamstring injuries in recent seasons, Osimhen now has just five weeks to recover before Nigeria’s opening AFCON 2025 match against Tanzania on December 23.
