I Won’t Disappoint You, Obio/Akpor Chairman Assures Akpor Grammar School Old Boys

The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Dr. Gift Worlu, has vowed never to disappoint his alma mater, Akpor Grammar School, declaring his determination to remain a worthy ambassador and deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

Dr. Worlu gave the assurance on Tuesday 18 November when members of the Akpor Grammar School Old Boys Association (AGSOBA) International paid him a courtesy visit at the Council Secretariat, Rumuodamaya.

In an emotion-laden speech, the Chairman described the visit as “a great honour and a powerful reminder of the unbreakable bond” among old boys of the prestigious school.

Recalling the discipline and values instilled in him at Akpor Grammar School, Dr. Worlu said: “I will not disappoint you people. I will try my best to be a worthy ambassador of our great alma mater. When I eventually leave this office, I want history to record that within this short period, this is what Gift Worlu did. I want to give back to the society that showed me love.”

The council boss, who recently toured public facilities in the LGA, decried the deplorable state of schools and health centres, vowing to revamp them urgently.

He charged AGSOBA members to embrace cooperative ventures for sustainable wealth creation instead of depending on handouts, citing the CARI Multipurpose Cooperative Society he midwife at the University of Port Harcourt, which grew from ₦10 million to over ₦60 million in one year.

Earlier, the President-General of AGSOBA International, Sir Hon. Lucky Worluh, praised Dr. Worlu’s leadership and pledged the association’s readiness to partner with him to uplift the school and the community.

The visit climaxed with the decoration of the Chairman with the association’s muffler and the cutting of a birthday cake in his honour.
