We Can Score Goals- Rivers united Coach

Finidi George, the Rivers United head coach, has revealed that despite the fact that the team has struggled to score goals this season, they are capable of finding the net when necessary, as reported.

‎During Rivers United’s last night encounter against the Benin powerhouse known as Bendel Insurance, the end result of the clash of the rescheduled match day nine NPFL fixture held on Thursday in Benin, was a goalless draw.

‎After the fixture report has it that the 54-year-old Nigerian tactician responded to questions, stating that the outcome was fair and that he and his entire squad accept the outcome.

‎In his words, he said, “We knew from the start that it would be a little bit challenging.” Before Bendel Insurance’s clash, I already told Rivers United players that they needed to fight because it was going to be tough, and they did just that.

‎”We had to defend our goal well to earn something from this game. I commend my players for keeping their composure, even when the second half became difficult.”

‎Notably, the report has it that the former Super Eagles head coach kept on defending his squad philosophy during the match, laying some emphasis that they will adopt a different approach in the CAF Champions League group stage.

‎”This is the NPFL, definitely. At times, you won’t see the fluid football typical of the EPL, but we are accustomed to it. Even though we have qualified for the CAF Champions League group stage, we will play differently when that time arrives.

‎We recorded a total of three goals in our last qualifiers for the CAFCL group stage. So on that note, I believe my team can score, but there are circumstances where you must appreciate what you achieve.”

‎”Looking at the defense line, the players have been outstanding this season. One thing I will continue to do is to keep on motivating them to improve. On the aspect of scoring goals, we will keep working with the players. We will review those matches and identify areas for improvement,” the former NPFL champion concluded.

‎Rivers United is set to travel to Owerri to take on Kun Khalifat in their next league match on Monday.
