Rivers State Government Urged to Open Imo River Estuaries For Business Development

Head of Okere- Ukwu Compound, in Ngwuro Community of Egberu- Ndoki Kingdom, Oyigbo Local Government Area, Rivers State, Chief David Okere-Ukwu, has called on the State Governor and the Chairmen of Oyigbo, Opobo/Nkoro, Andoni, Eastern Obolo and Khana LGAs to, as a matter of urgency clear all toxic wastes blocking the lower Imo River.

Chief David Okere-Ukwu while speaking with our correspondent noted that opening all accompanied estuaries linking Oyigbo, Ukwa-East, Akwa Ibom State, and Opobo Kingdom would allow trades and other businesses
to thrive.

“The opening of all accompanied estuaries linking Oyigbo, Ukwa-East, Akwa Ibom State, and Opobo Kingdom will go a long way to promote links for inter-trading between the various communities and neighboring states”

He urged the chairmen of the LGAs to endeavour to join forces with the Rivers State Government in order to attract more development projects to the areas.

According to the Monarch,, if this is done, then, trades and other investments would be enormous for the well-being of the people of the catchment communities, where jobs would be provided for the jobless Nigerians for posterity.

Chief David Okere-Ukwu however called on the people of the area to support Governor Fubara led administration in transforming the state and local government areas to an enviable height following the return of Democratic rule in the state.
