From the rolling plains of Northern Nigeria and the Middle Belt, Boko Haram terrorists and the killer Fulani herdsmen have been killing innocent victims, mostly Christians without let. It’s estimated that no less than 100,000, mostly Christians have been massacred between Plateau, Benue, Taraba, Kaduna and other states.
The infamous massacres in Southern Kaduna, Plateau and Benue States depict a picture so grotesque and gory, it’s simply beyond the mind’s imagination as to the extent sadists and narcissists can go.
Without much ado, let’s recap how we got here. First and foremost it’s the complicity of the Federal government. Picture the scenario where generals at the Frontline who are bent on rooting out the terrorists end up retired prematurely.
In a few cases, such gallant officers are even sacked from the service! This is about our shared security we are talking about. So, if a security agency as the Army is this compromised, how safe is the country?
Last, but not the least, the very heart of this existential Islamic terrorism as a threat.
The Enablers
Terrorist organizations like Boko Haram and the killer fulani herdsmen don’t operate in a vacuum. They are sponsored and fully supported by state and none state actors who are lined up at the corridors of power. Can you imagine reports linked to Ali Modi Sheriff claiming Shettima founded/created Boko Haram.
He was the former governor of Bornu State, and many suspect he was the mastermind of the Chibok Girls kidnapping by Boko Haram. He is now the Vice President of Nigeria! Ah, the revelation dey shock you?
Aside Ali Modi Sheriff and VP Shettima, the list include folks like the Sultan many claim is the spiritual leader of the enablers and enforcers. Amongst this elite group are folks within the Northern Elders Forum.

Then there’s retired Navy Admiral and former governor of Adamawa, Nyako, el Rufai, late President Muhammadu Buhari, Sheikh Gumi, Senator Ali Ndume and currently many serving Northern State governors. Now you know why the fight against Islamic terrorism is going backwards, not forward.
One good thing is that, the US State Dept. has the dossier of all the terrorists enablers and their sponsors. The coming of the Marines and the B2 Spirits will be a welcomed development. No Sovereign State can develop with such enablers at the corridors of power. It’s virtually impossible for a diverse space like Nigeria to come under an Islamic theocracy and Sharia law breathing down her neck.
