Rivers United Discovers Fate On Monday

Nigeria’s Rivers United will discover their group-stage opponents in the CAF Champions League during the official draw scheduled for Monday at the SuperSport Studios in Johannesburg, South Africa, as reported.

‎The Port Harcourt-based team secured their spot in the prestigious competition’s group phase following a 3–1 aggregate win over Black Bulls of Mozambique in the final qualifying round.

‎This accomplishment represents a significant milestone for Finidi George’s squad, marking the first occasion the club will participate in the group stage of Africa’s premier club competition. Additionally, Rivers United becomes the first Nigerian team to reach this stage of the CAF Champions League since the 2018/19 season, concluding a six-year wait for the nation.

‎In anticipation of the draw, Rivers United has been placed in Pot 3, positioning them alongside some of the continent’s leading clubs that have already qualified for the group stage.

‎Among the 16 confirmed teams are Al Ahly, Pyramids FC (Egypt), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Espérance de Tunis (Tunisia), Simba SC (Tanzania), Al Hilal (Sudan), and Young Africans (Tanzania).

‎Other participants include Petro de Luanda (Angola), AS FAR (Morocco), MC Alger and JS Kabylie (Algeria), Stade Malien (Mali), Power Dynamos (Zambia), and FC Saint-Éloi Lupopo (DR Congo).

‎The lineup will be finalized by the winner of the playoff match between RS Berkane (Morocco) and Al Ahli Tripoli (Libya).

‎The draw will officially pave the way for another thrilling CAF Champions League season, with group matches anticipated to commence in November.
