The Rivers State Ministry of Sports, led by Commissioner Christopher Green, has intervened in the alleged rape case of a female Junior Secondary School (JSS2) student of the Real Madrid Football Academy in Elekahia, Port Harcourt, by her 17-year-old classmate.
Hon. Green, on Monday, convened a meeting involving the alleged victim, the suspect, their parents, and the school management at his office in the State Secretariat, Port Harcourt.
Following the meeting, the Commissioner reportedly handed the suspect over to the Elekahia Police Division for further investigation.
Speaking to journalists, Uche Sampson, elder brother to the alleged victim, confirmed the ministry’s intervention and commended the Commissioner’s decisive response.
“The Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Christopher Green, has waded into the matter and directed a thorough investigation. He personally handed over the suspect to the Police for proper investigation to ensure justice is done,” Sampson said.

“I want to thank the Honourable Commissioner. He acted like a true father and leader, showing concern and care in handling the issue.”
Sampson also expressed appreciation to the Rivers State Government, the Police, human rights organisations, and the media for their efforts in seeking justice for his sister.
It will be recalled that Sampson had earlier accused the school management of handling the matter unprofessionally.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, had confirmed that the Elekahia Police Division is currently investigating the incident.
