Fubara Hails Progress on Trans-Kalabari Road, Says 75% of Piling Work Completed

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed satisfaction with the pace of work on the 12.2-kilometre Trans-Kalabari Road project, noting that 75 percent of the piling work on Phase 1 has been completed.

Governor Fubara stated this on Monday, October 27, 2025, during an inspection tour of the project site, accompanied by officials of Lubriks Construction Company, the project contractor.

He described the project as a landmark infrastructure that would significantly transform the lives of the Kalabari people upon completion.

“I personally came here to inspect this project. This is the Trans-Kalabari Road we flagged off about a year ago. I’ve been receiving reports from the Ministry of Works, but I felt the need to come and see things for myself,” Fubara said.

He explained that the first phase of the road, which extends to Bakana, involves four river-crossing bridges and nearly five decks on piles, describing it as technically challenging due to the difficult terrain.

“With what I have seen, I can confidently confirm that about 75 percent of the piling work which is critical to completing the road has been achieved. By the grace of God, in the next six months, when we return for another inspection, we might be able to drive through the bridge.”

Governor Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering people-oriented projects across the state, stressing that the Trans-Kalabari Road would open up economic opportunities and improve connectivity in the riverine communities.

“This is a key project that will immediately transform the lives of the Kalabari people once completed,” he assured.
