‎Nigeria U-17 Defeats Samoa With Whooping 0-4 to Reach the Round of 16‎

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, known as the Flamingos, faced the prospect of elimination prior to their match against Samoa in a crucial Group D finale at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025 on Saturday night.

‎Following consecutive losses to Canada (4–1) and France (1–0), the Flamingos’ tournament seemed nearly over. However, in a surprising turn of events, results from other matches on Friday have reopened the possibility of qualification, allowing them to control their own destiny.

‎Nigeria achieved a dominant 4-0 victory over Samoa in their final Group D match at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco. A double from Queen Joseph, along with goals from Rasheedat Moshood and Azeezat Oduntan, ensured a resounding win for the Flamingos.

‎The 0-4 triumph for the Nigerian Flamingos today against the debutants Samoa has propelled the Flamingos into the knockout stages of this year’s U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

‎The trio of Abubakar Memunat, Olarenwaju Kaosarat, and Boniface Elizabeth, who were partially responsible for the goal conceded against France, were excluded from the starting XI.

‎In their stead, Olowookere provided starting opportunities to Yahaya Mariam, Terlumun Nguemo, and Echefu Sylvia. The alterations proved effective, with Echefu notably executing a vital save in the second half to prevent Samoa from scoring a consolation goal.

‎The Flamingos secured their advancement to the knockout stage of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup following a convincing win over Samoa on Saturday.

‎Nigeria had been on the verge of elimination after suffering back-to-back defeats to Canada and France in their initial Group D matches.

‎Nevertheless, Olowookere’s team made a strong comeback, achieving progression as one of the best third-placed teams.
