Chelle was appointed as the coach of the Super Eagles in January after the team experienced a challenging start to the campaign. He has effectively transformed the team’s performance, achieving four victories and two draws in the six matches he managed.
The team secured a place in the World Cup qualifiers playoff scheduled for November after defeating Benin Republic 4-0 in Uyo. The coach is now poised to receive an enhanced salary and bonus package as a reward.
As initially reported by veteran Nigerian journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, Shehu Dikko, the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), met with the agent of Malian player Abraham Ibrahim Sidibe in Lagos on Sunday.

During this meeting, it was agreed that Sidibe would receive a new bonus package contingent upon the team’s qualification for the World Cup through the playoff.
Additionally, his pending allowances, which are believed not to include his salary, will be disbursed to him before the upcoming month. This payment is intended to allow him to focus on the matches, where the team will face Gabon in their quest to reach the finals, alongside Cameroon and Congo Dr competing in the other semi-final.
Nevertheless, his two-year contract remains intact and will be activated if the team qualifies for the World Cup. However, our source did not provide any information regarding his future should the team fail to qualify.
