Fubara Meets Traditional Rulers, Announces Reactivation of Key Projects in Rivers

The Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that governance has fully resumed across the State, with stalled development projects now reactivated in various local government areas.

Fubara also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peace, development, and the well-being of the people.

Speaking during a meeting with traditional rulers at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Port Harcourt on Thursday, October 16, 2025, Fubara said the State had moved past its emergency period and was now focused on delivering results.

His words, “My meeting with you this afternoon is to tell you that we are back. It’s not me, all of us. Government has started again. Our projects, if you are aware, most of the project sites have all reopened. The Ring Road has restarted. The hospitals are mobilized back to sites. The roads, as at today, we’ve had meetings with all the contractors. They’ve all moved back to sites.

“Also, the issues of other developments. I believe that most of them that were truncated, we will revisit them. Because at the end of the day, it has to do with the people. We must make sure that the interests of our people are supreme in whatever we’re doing. If you observe, every sector of the system has been activated.”

The governor emphasized that all sectors of the State have been reactivated and highlighted his administration’s people-first approach. He appealed to traditional rulers to maintain peace in their domains and support government initiatives, recognizing their critical role as custodians of culture and grassroots leaders.

“You are the closest leaders to the people. Government cannot function effectively without your support. Peace in your communities is vital for us to succeed. I will continue to respect and engage the traditional institutions accordingly.”

He also pledged to fulfill outstanding commitments to the traditional rulers, including the provision of vehicles and other entitlements by the end of November.

Stressing the importance of regular council meetings, Fubara urged the Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers to remain nonpartisan and focused on the State’s collective good.
