A team comprising key health officials has commenced a week-long supervision exercise across Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in Okrika Local Government Area to evaluate ongoing activities and ensure the effective utilization of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF).
Leading the exercise is the National Health Fellow representing Okrika LGA, who joined the LGA BHCPF Focal Person, the PFMO representative, and the RIVCHPP Focal Person in visiting various health facilities. The supervision aims to monitor service delivery, assess infrastructure improvements, and promote accountability and transparency in fund management.
According to the National Health Fellow, the exercise has so far revealed significant progress in the area’s healthcare delivery, with visible improvements in facility infrastructure, availability of essential drugs, and the dedication of health workers serving local communities.

He commended the Federal Government under President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Federal Ministry of Health led by Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), the Rivers State Government headed by Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board (RSPHCMB) for their continuous efforts in revitalizing PHCs across the state.
The Fellow emphasized that sustained accountability, transparency, and collaboration among stakeholders are essential to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and ensuring that every Naira invested leads to improved health outcomes for the people of Okrika and beyond.
