The Female Youths For Good Governance, a non-governmental organization (NGO), has resumed its “Pad a Girl” outreach program in rural communities across Rivers State. The NGO visited Comprehensive High School in Alesa, Eleme Local Government Area, Rivers State, today, October 15, as part of its efforts to provide sanitary pads, menstrual health education, and emotional support to girls in need.
With a mission to break the stigma surrounding menstruation, the NGO aims to empower young girls with the knowledge and resources necessary to manage their menstrual health with dignity. The program, which targets girls in rural communities, seeks to address the challenges these girls face in accessing sanitary products and information on menstrual hygiene.
The NGO is calling on individuals, organizations, and well-wishers to join hands with them in supporting this initiative. Donations, volunteer work, and spreading the word about the program can make a lasting impact on the lives of these girls. By working together, we can help break the silence surrounding menstruation and provide girls with the support they need to thrive.

By prioritizing menstrual health, young girls can maintain their self-esteem and confidence, enabling them to participate fully in daily activities without fear or shame. Proper hygiene practices, such as using clean sanitary products and changing them regularly, are essential in preventing health complications and promoting a healthy reproductive system. This, in turn, contributes to a more inclusive and supportive environment, where individuals can thrive and reach their full potential.
This initiative aligns with the efforts of other organizations in Nigeria, such as One78 Foundation’s “Pad a Girl Initiative” and the Esther Williams Foundation’s “Pad a Girl” outreach program, which aim to eradicate menstrual poverty and promote menstrual hygiene management among young girls.
