Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to complete the 50.15-kilometre Port Harcourt Ring Road project, which commenced in July 2023.
The governor gave the assurance on Monday, October 13, 2025, after inspecting the Eneka section of the project in company with top management of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, the construction firm handling the project.
Governor Fubara explained that the inspection followed renewed discussions with the company, which had earlier pledged to return to site and resume full construction work after a brief suspension.
“We are here this afternoon to confirm the commitment that Julius Berger gave to us. We have been in talks with them. You are aware that these projects were I wouldn’t say abandoned but somehow, for lack of funds, the contractors withdrew from the sites,” he said.

Reassuring Rivers people of his determination to see the project through, Governor Fubara added: “Let me make this promise to our good people of Rivers State: this project that we started, by the special grace of God, we are going to complete.”
The 50.15-kilometre Port Harcourt Ring Road is one of Governor Fubara’s flagship infrastructure projects. Flagged off on July 17, 2023, the road traverses five local government areas of the state and features six flyovers, a river-crossing bridge, and several connecting link roads designed to ease traffic and boost economic development.
