‎Eguavoen Calls for Peace, Says “He Has No Interest in Chelle’s Job”

The Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, Coach Augustine Eguavoen, has voiced his strong disapproval regarding reports in certain media outlets on Wednesday suggesting that he, along with Coach Ladan Bosso, was being considered to assume the role of head coach for the Super Eagles in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, should Coach Eric Chelle fail to secure qualification for next year’s FIFA World Cup finals.

‎”I am deeply hurt by these unfounded rumors, as I truly have no understanding of their origin. I maintain an excellent working relationship with Coach Eric Chelle, and I have no desire to take over the team. I am hoping for his success.

‎”This is reminiscent of how similar speculations caused division and discord between me and Gernot Rohr and José Peseiro during their respective tenures as coaches of the Super Eagles. Such behavior is unnecessary. We must all collaborate to ensure the Super Eagles qualify for the World Cup and triumph in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations championship in Morocco.”

‎Former head coach of the Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen, is among the few who have faith in the Super Eagles team, and the current head coach, Eric Chelle, has stated that the team still has a chance to qualify for next year’s World Cup.

‎The Eagles are currently in third place in their World Cup qualifying group.

‎Chelle’s squad must secure maximum points from their remaining matches to have a chance at obtaining the sole qualification ticket.

‎”We are on a precarious path, but anything is achievable. With the players we currently have and the unity of all Nigerians, it is feasible. I am completely confident because the players are eager to participate in the World Cup.

‎”I am not dwelling on the previous match; my focus is on the upcoming one. That is the mentality: one game at a time, treating each match as if it were a final,” Eguavoen remarked.
