Bayelsa Signs MoU with State of Africa in Diaspora to Boost Health, Education, Agriculture

Bayelsa State has entered into a strategic partnership with the State of Africa in Diaspora, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on advancing the health, education, and agricultural sectors of the state.

The signing ceremony took place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Government House in Yenagoa, where the Governor, Senator Douye Diri affirmed the importance of the agreement in accelerating development across key areas.

Diri expressed appreciation to the Africans in Diaspora for partnering with the state, noting that such collaborations are essential in shifting the narrative from external dependency to African-led development.

According to the Bayelsa helmsman, “we have just witnessed the signing of an agreement. On behalf of our government and the people of our state, we thank you for this.

“From this moment, you are our development partner and I hope the implementation can go on really fast.

“We need to work together as Africans and tell the story of how Africans are developing Africa. We are looking forward to a robust relationship with you.

“This agreement marks the beginning of a partnership that we hope will yield tangible results before the end of our administration in 2028.”

Diri signed on behalf of the Bayelsa State Government, while Dr. Louis-Georges Tin, the Prime Minister of the State of Africa in Diaspora, signed on behalf of his organization.

The agreement signals a shared commitment to sustainable development and pan-African cooperation, with both parties pledging to begin implementation swiftly.
